About the Builder...

Kent Ruesswick is the founder, and lead craftsman for Shaker Inspired He's been a resident and active participant in the community of Canterbury, New Hampshire since 1958, including a good portion of his youth which was spent playing in his family's large old barn, and roaming the neighboring fields and forest.

For the last 23 years Kent has practiced his trade by working as a builder in the residential construction market. His experience building new homes as well as remodeling existing structures has given him the opportunity to examine up close many of the trades involved, allowing him a greater understanding of how a building works as a home.

While he has lived within walking distance of a celebrated Shaker community nearly his entire life, it wasn't until ten years ago that his appreciation deepened for their architecture, clean design style and philosophy. Since then he has made it his goal to search out, and learn more about, as many of the still existing buildings and villages as he can. His search for a complete understanding of the Shaker design fundamentals has carried him from Kentucky to Maine, with many stops in between. His goal is simple, to help you discover the beauty and simplicity of Shaker architecture and reproduce it in a home setting.
